Sunshine and Ferris Wheels

4 days. 6 team members. & sunny california… the perfect start for a survey trip.

A couple of weeks ago, myself and five others from FRCH went out to survey an existing California department store. With a new design being developed by FRCH, it was great to get a good look of the existing space and see what we had to work with. However, it wasn’t all work! We made sure to work hard, but found time to play hard in beautiful sunny Santa Monica.

I had never been to California, so I was ready to explore as much as possible in the few hours we had. The last day we were there, we decided to explore Santa Monica. First stop was the famous Santa Monica Pier, where there were plenty of people watching and a small stationary “carnival.” Deb, Alex, and myself enjoyed a ride on the ferris wheel, which had a gorgeous view of the city, beach, and mountains. And of course, a trip to California is not complete without running into the Pacific Ocean.

We also discovered some colorful houses along the beach as well as on a long walk through the city. It was great to see color and unique material combinations that aren’t typically found in Ohio. After a long day of walking, delicious food, perfect weather, and beautiful site seeing it was time to call it a day.

It isn’t always so picture perfect when going on a survey, but I have to admit it was great to accomplish so much on the job and be inspired all in one trip. I pretty much fell in love with California and it only took a few days!

Funky California fire hydrant!

A quick stop at the well-known burger joint, IN-N-OUT, for some delicious milkshakes, fries, and greasy burgers.
