Variations in Tile

Oracle Jr had a conversation with a designer here at FRCH and was reminded that not everyone knows all that Oracle Jr knows.  LOL.  So I’ll share this little tip about tile – look for the variation number before specifying!

Tile can be uniform in color or designed to offer wild variation based on the collection.  Some collections that mimic stone tiles can have more variations as natural stones do. 

The way to quickly see if your tile all looks the same or has different shades within the same color is to look for the color variation number.  This is a number paired with a V that goes from 1 to 4.  One being no variation from tile to tile, and at the opposite end, four, meaning that tile colors will vary wildly.  See example below:

This information should be available from all tile manufacturers and readily seen on product information or catalogues.
