Fredericia Furniture has been awarded the “Interior Innovation Award Cologne 2008” for the veneer version of its Stingray rocking chair. The award was presented at this year’s Köln Internationale Møbelmesse, one of the world’s leading furniture fairs.

The veneer version of the Stingray rocker was created by the young Danish designer Thomas Pedersen, and was conceived as an innovative reworking of Pedersen’s earlier Stingray (which was plastic). The new version of Stingray is available in oak, walnut and the African wood makassar, whose grain beautifully accentuates the chair’s organic contours – which were inspired by the sea. Stingray can also be ordered in an upholstered version. List prices start at $2595 for an indoor plastic version with a chrome frame to $6950 for a fully upholstered leather version. Also available in a molded plastic stainless steel base version suitable for outdoor use.
