FRCH Wins 2012 Herman Miller & APG Good Design Challenge!

Recently, a team of FRCH’ers joined 13 other local design firms to participate in Herman Miller & APG’s Good Design Challenge. Each team was presented with the iconic Eames molded plastic chair and asked, “What Inspires You?”

The only rules were that the base must remain attached to the chair. Any and all transformations were fair game and the end results were a little bit of everything.

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec at the Pompidou-Metz

I am a fan of the simple elegance of Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec’s work. The Centre Pompidou-Metz is hosting an exhibition, inviting visitors to wander through a gallery highlighting fifteen years of work. The collection includes pieces ranging from prototypes to mass produced work, as well as hand-crafted objects.

One of the most thoughtful designers, Tokujin Yoshioka’s elegant design solutions are the perfect balance of simple materials and simple forms. The Invisible collection for Kartell takes advantage of the Italian brand’s expertise in acrylic furniture. Inspired by invisible elements such as sense, wind and light these pieces create the illusion that the sitter floats on air.
