NeoCon Preview – Bentley Prince Street

New collection from Bentley Prince Street: ‘Concrete interprets into textile a natural floor of stone with random horizontal blocks in deep carve and a glimmer of natural accent. Asphalt is texture that balances continuing the effect of the natural spark.’

ICFF Preview – Bev Hisey

At ICFF this year, Bev Hisey will be debuting two new hand-knotted wool rugs.

The rugs are homages to her grandmother’s oil paintings of the 50′s, in the spirit of the Canadian painters, the Group of Seven.

The colors are gorgeous, the design is yummy!

Uncontrollable Urge

Yea yea yea yea, yea-yeah, yea-yeah, yea-yeah-yea-yeah! OK, if you’re not a fan of Devo you have no idea what I’m going on about. (Think, Whip It – or maybe you remember the band from the 70s and 80s who wore red flowerpot-like hats on their heads.)

Anyways, one of their founding members Mark Mothersbaugh is a musician whose created themes for Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Nickelodeon series The Rugrats. Mark is a creative wunderkind who also scores music for movies like Rushmore.

Mark started designing rugs six years ago. “I liked the idea that you had a functionality with rugs that you missed with framed art pieces. They are much more pleasant to lay on, walk on, play on than pieces of paper. Rug burns are generally better than paper burns.”

See a slideshow of some of Mark’s designs here.

Eco-Backing

Now, at your request, Shaw EcoWorx Performance backing can be applied to any of the manufacturer’s broadlooms. This recyclable backing is the industry’s first 100% sustainable, non-PVC tile backing system.

EcoWorx Performance Broadloom can help decrease the amount of raw materials used in manufacturing due to its recyclability in a closed-loop process. Since all EcoWorx products are backed by an environmental guarantee, Shaw will collect and recycle EcoWorx Performance Broadloom, at no additional charge to the customer.
