Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec at the Pompidou-Metz

I am a fan of the simple elegance of Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec’s work. The Centre Pompidou-Metz is hosting an exhibition, inviting visitors to wander through a gallery highlighting fifteen years of work. The collection includes pieces ranging from prototypes to mass produced work, as well as hand-crafted objects.

Liverpool Interlomas: Grand Opening

On November 10, 2011, Jim Tippmann, Young Rok Park and myself had the great opportunity to be part of the Liverpool Interlomas Grand Opening Celebration in Mexico City. We have had the privilege of partnering with Liverpool for nearly a decade, but this was the first time we were able to attend the opening of one of the Liverpool stores for which we designed the interiors. Quick Trip to Chicago

A few weeks ago, Amy Baffi, Jennifer Eng, and I took a quick trip to Chicago. We had two goals.  One, to accept the LG Design Firm of the Year award; and two, to check out a few fabulous and new retail spaces. Our adventure started early at Soldier Field where we accepted the award, listened to a trend report by Little Fish, and took a tour of the Bears stadium. It didn’t take long before  we started our investigation of details, materials, and spaces.

The shop that caught my attention and thrilled my senses most on a recent trip to Toronto was a small café on Queens St. named Nadége. Directly across from Trinity Bellwoods Park the area is a wonderful mix of culture and people watching, the perfect place to relax and grab a treat.

Steve Jobs Redefined Design

Steve Jobs’ masterful objects of desire are proof of the purchasing power of design. He made this world a more beautiful place and changed how we work, learn and communicate with each other, among other things. Fast Company examines what made him so great in this article, calling him a “user-experience savant”. This excerpt says it all: “A reporter who asked Jobs about the market research that went into the iPad was famously told, “None. It’s not the consumers’ job to know what they want. By the time you get it built, they’ll want something new.” Read more of this post
