Gorgeous light from Peter Buning. The Sha-Do is available in several different patterns. See their website for more.
From Sha-Do: “The SHA-DO-lamp is a wall-, ceiling-lamp that creates an individual shadow. The projection contains up to three meters in the diameter and is adjustable in size and direction. It can be calculated for nearly every model and/or every face especially. Furthermore it is possible to create a bigsize projection with several lamps.”

Braun Brush Modular Tiles

braun-brush-070307.jpg

New from Braun Brush (yes, they make brushes for artists and brooms) comes Modular Tiles. An interesting idea for vertical surfaces, made of natural or plastic bristles embedded in a polycarbonate or plywood backing. You can specify the color and stiffness of the bristles to obtain the effect you desire. Tiles are made in 12″x12″ sizes but can be customized in smaller sizes. Pricing starts out at $35/sq foot to $60/sq ft based on a minimum purchase for a 100 sq foot wall. Colors of bristles can also be customized for a minimum 100 lb purchase (typically enough fiber for a 10′x10′ wall).

Available from Robin Reigi. We have a sample in the Library!

New Innovation from Corian

corian-070307.jpgCorian introduces the Illumination Series. Two new translucent colors from DuPont Corian, Glacier Ice and Artic Ice, allow up to three times as much light to pass through than other Corian colors. Glacier Ice, a solid, translucent color, will be available this Summer. Artic Ice, made with white particulates, will be available on a limited basis in the fall.

The Lab will be meeting with a Corian expert in the next week to find out about the possibilities with this great new product. Stay tuned!
